In this article it showed the lack of education services aren't being equally treated between whites and blacks. Marx's identified two forms of class analysis: Correlation and Cultural Reproduction/Resistance Analysis. Correlation was an analysis that is believed to be dependent on one's family background with their attitudes in school performances. The Cultural Reproduction/Resistance was based on research/ theories of Marx, which meant that the theory showed that working class student rejected education. Working class students rejected this, because it was due to the lack of respectable treatment they were receiving. This does deal with social stratification, but does society realize that by classifying certain people and not helping students out it just manages to increase chaos and disorder.
In another part of the article also talked about "School Performance Gap Transcends Time and Class Boundaries." It focused on the desegregation towards black and their performances in the school and how the lacked a certain educational standard. Blacks were basically being pointed out as the weaker link, because of their lack and care of education as society believed. The article mentioned "the gap", i wasn't to sure on what it's main meaning was but i believe that if state's on the living conditions it would defined them on how they act towards everything else. If society see's them as such a weak link then why don't they just have the ability to help them instead of making them look bad and make them seem that all of them don't care for an educational degree.
In the last part of the article it talked about " How Racial Stratification Enters into Black Education." Three ways that were stated in which racial stratification enter into black education 1) societal educational policies, 2) the way black students are perceived and treated in specific schools they attend, and 3) People's own perception and responses to their schooling. All of these three ways just showed how stratification enters black education. This three way's reminded me of a quote " In order for you to get respect show respect to others." Overall this part covered how blacks weren't treated equally in terms of their education, which caused them to have less job opportunities and get a higher education. But even in the schools the treatment that they received wasn't as good either. In one statement it states " some black educators and others agree with this interpetation that the academic work is "white"". This to me shows that society again wants everyone to be the same not everyone can be the same, because if that was the case society would have to be like everyone else, which can cause others to disagree with that as weel as I do.

People like Us
In this video it shows how society likes to judge people on their social class. Society can judge on what someone dresses, looks, jobs they obtain, the types of home one lives in, etc..Towards the beginning of the video a woman in a school I believe was judging on everyone that past right by her, for example the words she used to describe some were dorky, dirty, and ghetto. The people that were talking and stating certain states on what they were describing how how some can describe lower, middle, or high class. What I also took from this was that when some women in the beginnign of the video saw the picture of an old man she automatically assumed he was lower class, but she said maybe he just dress like a lower class person but probably aren't. It seems that people are easily judging other with out knowing anything about them. This is what today in our society describe people today. It just comes to show that society can consider themselves in any type of class, because if one grew out of the a certain class they would push aside the ones they didn't fit in into the certain status that seemed fit.
In last weeks class our professor asked us a question on what class we believed we were when we grew up. Mostly the whole class stated that they believed and thought they were middle class. It just comes to show that everything from how each individual grew up and the environment one was raised in can help one describe their class. In the end it showed ME how to describe class in a better way and that not everyone can be defined as lower, middle, or higher class

Postitve Functions of the Undeserving Poor: Uses of the Underclass in America
According to Herbert J. Gans point of view on how poor people are stereotyped. Herbert pointed out certain postive views that poor people have. What stood out to me was that on page 4 Herbert states"survey after survey has shown that the poor, including many street criminals and drug sellers, want to hold respectable jobs like everyone else. It showed that even today for example in prisons some criminals don't want to be labeled that way anymore they want to labeled as everyone else that the can do something good with their life. But their can be others that think different and say of oh they have a criminal record they dont deserve to be working for such a high level paying job. Just in these example it examples on how criminals are stereotized.
Herbert also points out that even in today society it you are labeled as a "schoool dropout" you are known as not being able to hold a suitable job, may not even be able to get a job, and it can as well go back to how prisoners can be unemployed. By being labeled this way it can cause criminals to stay criminals. It just shows that Herbert's point that in society poor people aren't seen as a postive function they are seen more towards negative.

Deviance
Deviance is a breaking of a social rule,or refusing to follow one. I was a bit confused on
how to start of, I wasn't sure if I really understood the meaning of it, but either way I am giving
it shot. Teenagers today drinking under the age of 21, drive in a car with a fake drivers license,
etc.. Some teenagers know that it's illegal to drink under the age of 21, some drink because it
can be a stress reliever, other can drink because they think their cool enough to do so. By drinking
at such a young as can cause some to have different reactions, others can become alcoholics.
Fake drivers license one can claim that they needed it to get around their neighborhood, that
their previous license was suspended and they needed there car, etc.. With a fake driver's license
you can get caught by a police officer and one can be sent to jail, you can have a record with an
expected court date. On one the day of your court date you would give a reasonable explanation
on why you had a fake driver's license under the age of 21. In the end it's better to follow
the social rule, because it can save you lots of problems.
